Lady Fliers Offensive Frustrations Continue in 1-0 loss to host a Tiffin Columbian. Flier Boys also fall, 5-3.
Our soccer teams today traveled to Columbian High School for a second try with the Tornadoes. In the opener, Columbian used the Fliers’ listless first half play to build an insurmountable 5-0 lead after 40 minutes.
“We just were not ready, early on,” said junior Brock Newsome.” We need to address this more in coming contests against even tougher teams!”
The Fliers found the defensive formula to shut out Columbian in the second half. Brock scored two of the team’s 3 goals in the second half(Lukas Cziela the other), but the damage had been done.
In the girls’ match, the Lady Tornadoes squeezed a goal past MJ Overmeyer at the 28:12 Mark of the first half. Despite playing outstanding team defense throughout the game, the Lady Fliers could not score and have not scored in the past three games.
“Our defense is right where we like it,” said assistant coach Koenig. “We need to find the same chemistry on offense that the girls have been playing on defense.”
The girls are now 3-6-1 and the boys 5-4-1.
