Lady Fliers Succumb to Little Giants 4-1.
For 40 minutes, things looked deceivingly optimistic for Coach Sahen Fultz’s girls soccer team. Lexi Wilson had scored her first goal of the season to give the Blue and Gold a 1-0 lead on the warm and humid day on the Ross soccer field. Even at halftime, the scoreboard showed the two teams deadlocked at 1-1.
Anyone’s game? Well, hold on all of you ‘glass half full’ attitudes. Look at the numbers for each team. The Fliers had two on its bench, while Fremont had at least 4 times that. It gets nowhere to use excuses for a club, but to our Lady Fliers, I must Grant you an unofficial excuse. Running around all morning and midday in the stamina sucking heat and humidity wears on an any athlete, even conditioned ones.
Could the Lady Fliers have executed better. Of course! So, too, could the Lady Giants. The latter played virtually 65 minutes of the 80 minute match near the home of goalie, Kendall Bailey. Eventually, using their depth and much fresher personnel, the score rose on the Fremont side.
In the end, the Fremont Ross girls won 4-1. Another tough, tough loss for our girls. If you did not feel for them, you must be military drill seargent.
