Fremont Ross Downs Flier Wrestlers Tonight 51-26
In front of a very good audience, the strong Fremont Ross wrestling team powered over the young Flier squad. Ross, which won the Trac last winter and who competed tough against state number 2 projected Edison in Division 3 last week, raced to a 29-13 lead through the 152 pound class, stretched it to 47-19 before securing the victory with heavyweight Mike Flores win over senior Kris Mange.
The Blue and Gold started well when Sophomore Rush Andres pinned his opponent at 113. But then freshman Alex McKee fell, as did James Batesole, and junior Jared Norman.
Down 6-23, junior Lukas McKee stemmed the slide with a decision over Ryan Weaver at 138.
Junior Hank Webb gave one of the best performances at 152 winning 13-3. The football long snapper appears stronger and more confident on the mat this year. Alec Montgomery also won by a pin along with Ben Seavers at 220.
It was a rugged test for the Fliers in facing the favored Little Giants. But signs are there and it may take awhile, but progress under Coach Cliff Andres no doubt will be made in the months ahead.
