Clyde Fliers Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Perkins
Clyde Fliers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-3 loss to Perkins on Thursday. Perkins took the lead on a fielder’s choice in the first inning.
The Clyde Fliers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Perkins, giving up 13 runs.
Perkins got on the board in the first inning when Ryan Lozier induced Klein to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Perkins scored five runs in the third inning. Klein, Knupke, Kammer, and Walton each drove in runs during the inning.
Walton led the Perkins to victory on the hill. He allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
Lozier took the loss for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing 12 hits and 12 runs while striking out two.
Grant Reese, Nathan Montgomery, Cameron Farrar, Lozier, Jon Jett, and Trent Cook all had one hit to lead Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Perkins racked up 13 hits on the day. Knupke, Smith, and George all managed multiple hits for Perkins. Knupke led Perkins with three hits in three at bats.
