Clyde Fliers Varsity Nabs Win Over Shelby Despite Early 3-Run Inning
Clyde Fliers Varsity managed through a push by Shelby in the fifth inning where Clyde Fliers Varsity coughed up three runs, but Clyde Fliers Varsity still won 5-3 on Thursday. Shelby big bats were led by Evan Bogner and Dylan Beekman, all driving in runs in the inning.
In the second inning, Clyde Fliers Varsity got their offense started when Hunter Hoffman induced Chris Florence to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Robby Webb was the winning pitcher for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out five. Cayden Rollins threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Rollins recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Hoffman took the loss for Shelby. He allowed six hits and five runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
