Two Clyde Fliers Varsity Pitchers Combine To Shutout Huron
Clyde Fliers Varsity defeated Huron 22-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Chris Florence induced a fly out from Christian Scroggins to finish off the game.
Clyde Fliers Varsity secured the victory thanks to 14 runs in the third inning. Clyde Fliers Varsity offense in the inning was led by Trevor Burtch, Cam Farrar, Mikey Haynes, Jarred Colvin, Grant Reese, and Burtch, all driving in runs in the inning.
Clyde Fliers Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Farrar doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Clyde Fliers Varsity notched 14 runs in the third inning. Clyde Fliers Varsity big bats were led by Burtch, Farrar, Haynes, Colvin, Reese, and Burtch, all knocking in runs in the inning.
One bright spot for Huron was a single by Reid Winter in the fourth inning.
Robby Webb earned the win for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six and walking zero. Florence threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Nathan Herwat took the loss for Huron. He went two innings, allowing 13 runs on 12 hits.
Clyde Fliers Varsity scattered 22 hits in the game. Reese, Cayden Rollins, Colvin, Haynes, Seth Hohman, Farrar, Florence, Burtch, and Webb each managed multiple hits for Clyde Fliers Varsity. Rollins and Reese each collected three hits to lead Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Winter led Huron with one hit in two at bats.
