Clyde Fliers Varsity Defeats Ashland In High-Scoring Game, 12-7
There were runs aplenty on Saturday, as Clyde Fliers Varsity defeated Ashland 12-7.
Clyde Fliers Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Mikey Haynes singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Clyde Fliers Varsity notched six runs in the second inning. Robby Webb, Haynes, Grant Reese, and Mitch Dickman each had RBIs in the frame.
Ashland scored three runs in the seventh inning. Ashland’s big inning was driven by walks by Nathan Mohney and Taylor Bunce and an error on a ball put in play by Cade McQuate.
Jarred Colvin led the Clyde Fliers Varsity to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out six. Chris Florence threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Brycen Light took the loss for Ashland. He lasted one inning, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out two.
Clyde Fliers Varsity totaled 11 hits in the game. Colvin, Haynes, and Webb each managed multiple hits for Clyde Fliers Varsity. Webb, Haynes, and Colvin each managed two hits to lead Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Ashland saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Owen Chandler and Brennen Hunt each racked up multiple hits for Ashland. Ashland didn’t commit a single error in the field. Drew Schaly had the most chances in the field with five.
