Vermilion Captures Lead Early To Defeat Clyde Fliers Varsity
Clyde Fliers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-0 loss to Vermilion on Monday. Vermilion scored on a double by Bryce Fisher and a groundout in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Vermilion pitchers struck out eight, while Clyde Fliers Varsity sat down six
Vermilion captured the lead in the first inning. Bryce Fisher drove in two when he doubled in the first inning.
A single by Matt Baker in the first inning was a positive for Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Mason Montgomery earned the win for Vermilion. He tossed three innings, allowing zero runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Robbie Webb took the loss for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He threw six innings, allowing three runs, seven hits, and striking out six.
Nik Barkdull started the game for Vermilion. He pitched four innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, and striking out seven.
Webb, Baker, and Frank Sewell each managed one hit to lead Clyde Fliers Varsity.
Vermilion collected eight hits. Ridge Clark and Fisher each collected multiple hits for Vermilion. Vermilion was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Nick Ragnoni made the most plays with eight.
