Clyde Fliers Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Clyde Fliers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-0 loss to Lexington on Saturday. Lexington took the lead on a walk in the first inning.
Lexington took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Lexington.
Lexington scored four runs in the seventh inning. Lexington’s big inning was driven by a single by Austin Eifrid and a double by Jared Strickler.
One bright spot for Clyde Fliers Varsity was a double by Matt Baker in the first inning.
Strickler earned the win for Lexington. He went seven innings, giving up zero runs, five hits, striking out three, and walking one. Robbie Webb took the loss for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He threw six and a third innings, allowing five runs, eight hits, and striking out three.
Ryan Kelley led Clyde Fliers Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Lexington had nine hits in the game. Strickler and Biddle each collected multiple hits for Lexington. Strickler went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lexington in hits. Lexington didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jacob Reichle had 13 chances in the field, the most on the team.
