Haynes Throws Shutout As Clyde Fliers Varsity Defeats Huron in Sectionals
Mikey Haynes didn’t allow a single run as Clyde Fliers Varsity defeated Huron 1-0 on Wednesday. Haynes allowed just two hits and struck out Nick Lenyo to end the game.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Mikey Haynes struck out five, while Jared Hohler sat down five.
One bright spot for Huron was a single by Conor Fortune in the first inning.
Haynes earned the win for Clyde Fliers Varsity. He threw seven innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, and striking out five. Hohler took the loss for Huron. He tossed six innings, surrendering one run, eight hits, and striking out five.
Clyde Fliers Varsity had eight hits in the game. Parker Reese, Nate Gittinger, and Ryan Kelley each collected multiple hits for Clyde Fliers Varsity. Kelley, Gittinger, and Reese each managed two hits to lead Clyde Fliers Varsity. Clyde Fliers Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cam Farrar had the most chances in the field with eight.
